BlackRock Opens Up Closed-End Web Site

February 7, 2003 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - BlackRock has opened a new website, which will make it easier for plan sponsors and financial advisors to track information on its closed-end funds.

The new site ( www.blackrock.com/funds/cefunds ) expands the amount of information available on the closed-end funds portion of BlackRock’s website for each of the 43 funds advised by its subsidiary, BlackRock Advisors, Inc.

Last November the firm announced that it had developed and made available daily pricing web pages for all of its closed-end funds. On the new site certain data elements will be updated daily, though the majority of portfolio specific information will be updated on a monthly basis.

According to BlackRock, some of the new data elements include:

General Fixed Income Market Data – daily

  • Trading Information (Price and NAV, Premium/Discount, 52-Week High & Low, etc.) – daily/weekly
  • Dividend Information (Current Yield, Monthly Distribution Rates, Historical Dividends, etc.) – monthly
  • Total Return Information (Annualized and Calendar Year Returns) – monthly
  • Portfolio Characteristics (Maturity, Duration Information, Sectors, Credit Quality, etc.)- monthly

The site also offers a Closed-End Fund “Learning Center”.   As of December 31, 2002, BlackRock managed over $10.7 billion in closed-end fund assets.
