Dutch Doctors Pension Fund Profits from Tobacco Stake Sale
01 May 2012 (PLANSPONSOREurope.com) – The Dutch family doctors’ pension fund Stichting Pensioenfonds voor Huisartsen made a profit of €140,000 last year from selling some of its shares in British American Tobacco.
The Financieele Dagblad reported on Tuesday that the fund, which the paper says has at least €2.3bn invested in tobacco, benefited from the rise in share prices.
BAT shares, for example, have risen 20% more than the past year, the paper says.
The pension fund sold 3,680 shares in Q1 of this year, netting it the equivalent of around €140,000.
