Dutch Firms Reluctant To Bolster Pension Funds

20 February 2012 (PLANSPONSOREurope.com) -Dutch firms are reluctant to bolster pension funds if there is a risk pay-outs need to be cut, according to reports.

The Financieele Dagblad reports research into the 100 worst-performing pension funds in the Netherlands finds just seven cases so far of employers being willing to put in top-up funds to head off the risk of cuts, despite many being required to do so in their statutes
The paper attributes the reluctance of companies to bail out their funds to the trend towards giving workers more responsibility for their own pensions.
