Ugoretz has been president of ERIC since 1983, overseeing the association's legislative, regulatory and educational mission.
“My career with ERIC, and its leadership, members and staff, as well as my colleagues in the benefits community, has been extraordinarily rewarding. ERIC’s members demonstrate a consistent commitment and dedication to employee benefits and economic security that has always made me proud to represent them,” Ugoretz said in announcing his retirement.
The ERIC Board of Directors announced that Scott Macey, currently Of Counsel to Covington & Burling LLP, will serve as interim president and CEO of ERIC while a search is conducted for a permanent successor.
Macey has more than 30 years of experience in compensation and benefit consulting in health care, pensions and executive compensation, and has been associated with ERIC for more than 35 years, serving on the Board for approximately 30 of those years, first as AT&T’s representative and later representing Aon Consulting. Macey also served as chairman of ERIC in the mid-1990s. Macey will leave Covington & Burling at the end of May and join ERIC on June 1.
