European Plan Sponsors Should Look to Long-Term Benefits of Fiduciary Management

26 June 2012 (PLANSPONSOREurope.com) - European plan sponsors need to be open to the long-term advantages of turning to a fiduciary manager, according to Chetan Ghosh, chief investment officer at the Centrica Pension Fund.

Speaking at the latest aiCIO Chief Investment Officer Summit in London, Ghosh told delegates that beleaguered European plan sponsors, weighed down by pension liabilities and operating in tough economic times due to the eurozone crisis should take a long-term view on the benefits of fiduciary management.

Ghosh said: “From a sponsor’s perspective managing volatility is pretty important. While they understand that only focusing on investment performance it is something to do over time. They can’t fully get away from having someone out there so it is about attacking that journey in a sensible volatility adjustment way.”
