In Ada, Ohio, Kroger has opened a robotic grocery kiosk on the campus of Ohio Northern University. About the size of an enclosed bus stop, the robotic kiosk is a self-contained, refrigerated vending machine that can carry up to 200 items. It is restocked daily with such staples as toiletries, cleaning supplies, and perishables that include fresh milk, bread, fruit, and ground beef. It accepts cash, debit cards, credit cards, and federal supplemental nutrition-assistance program cards.
In Great Falls, Montana, a woman was cited for felony drunken driving -- after her frightened nine-year-old daughter jumped out of the car, ran into a convenience store and told a cashier her mother was extremely drunk. The daughter pointed out her mother's car parked nearby and officers arrested 47-year-old Chari L. Littledog after she refused to perform field sobriety tests. Court records say preliminary tests showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.267, more than three times the legal limit.
In Raeford, North Carolina, a preschooler was made to eat school cafeteria chicken nuggets because a state worker decided her lunch from home was not healthy enough. Her packed lunch included a turkey and cheese sandwich, a banana, apple juice and potato chips. The state employee said it “did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines.” The student’s mother said she received a note from the school about the incident and was charged $1.25 for the cafeteria tray, from which her daughter ate three chicken nuggets. In Bankgkok, Thailand, a man got angry when a taxi driver refused to accept him as a passenger – So, he hurled a bomb at the taxi. According to the Bangkok Post, when police arrived, the man threw another bomb at them – but it hit a tree and bounced back towards him and exploded. He lost both legs in the blast.
In Las Vegas, Nevada, a man suffered a heart attack while dining at -- The Heart Attack Grill. He was eating a Triple Bypass Burger at the time. He is reportedly alive and recuperating. – Unfortunately, tourists thought it was a PR stunt and took photos and videos of him during the event.
