More than Two Million UK Retirees Miss out Benefits

04 June 2012 (PLANSPONSOREurope.com) - Around 2.5m UK retirees are missing out on benefits such as council tax credits, pension credits, winter fuel payments and free bus passes because of a lack of awareness that they are eligible.

Quoting the figures from Just Retirement, The Telegraph reports one in five pensioners is failing to claim any benefits at all beyond the basic state pension - missing out on an average of £872 a year in the process.
Meanwhile one in three pensioners claim some of the money, but is still missing out on an average of £676 a year.
In total, between two and three million retired people fail to claim money that is rightfully theirs.
