Tuition Payment Programs Widespread

August 15, 2008 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Nearly all executives in a recent poll said their employer helps pay employees' continuing education expenses.

An Accountemps news release said 94% of respondents reimburse employees for university tuition while 95% pay employees' expenses for other kinds of professional development.

"Providing educational and professional development opportunities helps companies attract top performers, maximize productivity and boost retention efforts," said Max Messmer, chairman of Accountemps, in the news release. "Employees who take full advantage of the resources available for learning remain intellectually challenged and increase their ability to take on greater responsibility at work."

The survey was developed by Accountemps and conducted by an independent research firm and is based on telephone interviews with 150 senior executives from the nation's 1,000 largest companies.
