Excluding cities in Alaska, which U.S. city is the largest in area?
While Los Angeles may have come to mind for many of you—its area is 469.1 square miles, according to The World Almanac and Book of Facts 2009—the answer is Jacksonville, Florida, (757.7 square miles).
Jacksonville is also larger than other big cities, such as Oklahoma City, Houston and Phoenix.
