UK Plan Sponsors See PPF 7800 Pension Plan Deficits Rise

14 August 2012 (PLANSPONSOREurope.com) – UK plan sponsor pension plan deficits have increased according to the latest Pension Protection Fund 7800 Index.

The data for July 2010 reveals:

• The aggregate deficit of the 6,432 schemes in the PPF 7800 index is estimated to have increased over the month to £283.0bn at the end of July 2012, from a deficit of £267.0bn at the end of June.
• The funding ratio decreased from 79.6% to 78.9%.
• Total assets were £1057.5bn and total liabilities were £1340.5bn.
• There were 5,418 schemes in deficit and 1,014 schemes in surplus.
