As health care costs continue to grow, employers are increasingly shifting to consumer-directed health plan (CDHP) designs, notes health care provider Anthem Inc.
Anthem says account-based products—such as health savings accounts (HSAs), flexible spending accounts (FSAs), and health reimbursement arrangements (HRAs)—have become an indispensable tool to help consumers save and pay for their new financial responsibilities.
Anthem has entered into an agreement with Alegeus, provider of consumer-directed health care (CDH) solutions, to serve as the preferred partner to power the CDH programs of Anthem’s affiliated health plans. The Alegeus platform will provide robust engagement tools that help consumers optimize their health care spending and maximize their health care savings.
By leveraging an established CDH platform, health plans can transform the consumer health care experience—delivering solutions to help participants make informed decisions and maximize the value of their health care dollars. Fully-integrated CDH solutions offer flexibility to support a wide range of plan designs, features that maximize consumer convenience and choice, and tools and programs to maximize consumer engagement.“As consumers assume more financial responsibility, it is imperative that health plan strategies evolve to deliver products and solutions that support and guide them,” says Patrick Blair, senior vice president, Commercial Business Segments & Chief Marketing Officer at Anthem.
