Forty-one percent of chief financial officers (CFOs) interviewed by Accountemps said that, aside from a salary increase, employees would like better benefit plans, such as enhanced health benefits, in 2015.
Nineteen percent said employees want more vacation days. However, when Accountemps asked employees the same question, 30% indicated they would like more vacation days and 26% selected better benefits.
Fifteen percent of CFOs said they think employees would like more scheduling flexibility, such as telecommuting or flexible work hours, while 19% of employees reported wanting this. More training or professional development opportunities was selected by 12% of CFOs and 15% of employees. Nine percent of employees indicated they would want other corporate perks, such as on-site amenities, wellness programs, or subsidized transportation, and 11% of CFOs said employees would want this.
Bill Driscoll, a district president with Accountemps, says the survey findings could mean something positive for employers: “Changing a company’s benefits package can be a lengthy, challenging and expensive process; re-evaluating the vacation policy is fairly straightforward in comparison.”The surveys include responses from more than 2,100 CFOs from a stratified random sample of companies in more than 20 of the largest U.S. metropolitan areas and more than 320 employees age 18 and older who work in an office environment.
