Tuesday, the census Bureau will report new home sales for March. Thursday, the Department of Labor will issue its initial jobless claims report and Freddie Mac will update average mortgage rates for the week.
MARKET MIRROR
Friday, the Dow rose 211.02 points (0.56%) to close at 37,986.40, the Nasdaq fell 319.49 points (2.05%) to close at 15,282.01 and the S&P 500 fell 43.89 points (0.88%) to close at 4,967.23. The Russell 2000 rose 4.70 points (0.24%) to close at 1,947.66, and the FT Wilshire 5000 Index rose 183.91 points (0.37%) to close at 50,451.31.

The 10-year Treasury note was unchanged, bringing the yield to 4.626. The 30-year Treasury bond rose 3/32, bringing the yield to 4.716%.

For the week ending April 19, the Dow rose 0.01%, the Nasdaq fell 5.52% and the S&P 500 fell 3.05%. The Russell 2000 fell 2.77%, and the FT Wilshire 5000 Index ended 1.96% lower.
