Yesterday, the Dow closed 358.51 points (1.51%) higher at 24,133.78, the NASDAQ was up 95.64 points (1.11%) at 8,730.16, and the S&P 500 increased 41.74 points (1.47%) to 2,878.48. The Russell 2000 climbed 48.82 points (3.96%) to 1,281.88, and the Wilshire 5000 gained 506.30 points (1.78%) to finish at 28,990.19.
The price of the 10-year Treasury note was down 5/32, increasing its yield to 0.653%. The price of the 30-year Treasury bond fell 2 1/32, bringing its yield up to 1.254%.

In 1992, the U.S. Agriculture Department unveiled a pyramid-shaped recommended-diet chart. In 2000, Jay Leno received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
