June 2023 sales of merchant wholesalers, except manufacturers’ sales branches and offices, after adjustment for seasonal variations and trading day differences but not for price changes, were $643.3 billion, down 0.7% from the revised May level and were down 6.7% from the revised June 2022 level, the Census Bureau reported. The April 2023 to May 2023 percent change was revised from the preliminary estimate of down 0.2% to down 0.5%.

The Dow fell 158.64 points (0.45%) to close at 35,314.49, the Nasdaq fell 110.07 points (0.79%) to close at 13,884.32 and the S&P 500 fell 19.06 points (0.42%) to close at 4,499.38. The Russell 2000 lost 11.52 points (0.59%) to close at 1,947.42, and the FT Wilshire 5000 lost 214.84 points (0.47%) to close at 45,462.27.

The price of the 10-year Treasury note decreased 2/32, bringing the yield to 4.211%. The price of the 30-year Treasury bond decreased 2/32, bringing the yield to 4.211%.
