Privately‐owned housing starts in November were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,427,000, the Census Bureau reported. This is 0.5% below the revised October estimate of 1,434,000 and is 16.4% below the November 2021 rate of 1,706,000. Single‐family housing starts in November were at a rate of 828,000; this is 4.1% below the
revised October figure of 863,000. The November rate for units in buildings with five units or more was 584,000.
MARKET MIRROR
Tuesday, the Dow rose 92.20 points (0.28%) to close at 32,869.75, the Nasdaq increased 1.08 points (.01%) to close at 10,547.11 and the S&P 500 was up 3.96 points (0.10%) to close at 3,821.62. The Russell 2000 rose 9.44 points (0.54%) to close at 1,748.02 and the Wilshire 5000 rose 57.00 points (0.15%) to 37,891.24.

The price of the 10-year Treasury note fell 31/32, raising the yield to 3.690%. The price of the 30-year Treasury bond rose 4/32, bringing the yield to 3.746%.
