Monday, the Dow fell 122.75 points (0.28%) to close at 44,421.91, the Nasdaq fell 235.49 points (1.20%) to close at 19,391.96 and the S&P 500 fell 45.96 points (0.76%) to close at 5,994.57. The Russell 2000 fell 29.28 points (1.28%) to close at 2,258.42, and the FT Wilshire 5000 Index fell 480.01 points (0.79%) to close at 60,295.19.

The 10-year Treasury note decreased 2/32, bringing the yield to 4.541%. The 30-year Treasury bond decreased 4/32, bringing the yield to 4.790%.

In 1945, during the final stages of World War II, the Yalta Conference opened with Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin meeting to plan the final defeat and occupation of Nazi Germany. In 1948, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) gained independence from Great Britain. In 1974, newspaper heiress Patty Hearst was kidnapped by members of the Symbionese Liberation Army. In 2003, Yugoslavia officially changed its name to Serbia and Montenegro. In 2004, the website Facebook was launched (as TheFacebook.com). In 2012, British servicewoman Florence Green, the last surviving veteran of World War I, died at age 110.
