Yesterday, the Dow was up 83.28 points (0.29%) at 28,907.05, the NASDAQ climbed 95.07 points (1.04%) to 9,273.93, and the S&P 500 increased 22.78 points (0.70%) to 3,288.13. The Russell 2000 closed 11.96 points (0.72%) higher at 1,669.61, and the Wilshire 5000 gained 249.91 points (0.75%) to finish at 33,487.06.
The price of the 10-year Treasury note was down 2/32, increasing its yield to 1.844%. The price of the 30-year Treasury bond decreased 27/32, bringing its yield up to 2.301%.

ON THIS DATE: In 1784, the United States ratified a peace treaty with England ending the Revolutionary War. In 1882, the Myopia Hunt Club, in Winchester, Massachusetts, became the first country club in the United States. In 1951, the first National Football League Pro Bowl All-Star Game was played in Los Angeles. In 1952, NBC’s “Today” show premiered. In 1954, the Hudson Motor Car Company merged with Nash-Kelvinator. The new company was called the American Motors Corporation. In 1972, NBC-TV debuted “Sanford & Son.” In 1973, the Miami Dolphins defeated the Washington Redskins in Super Bowl VII and became the first NFL team to go undefeated in a season. In 1985, Martina Navratilova won her 100th tournament. She joined Jimmy Connors and Chris Evert Lloyd as the only professional tennis players to win 100 tournaments. In 1999, the impeachment trial of President Bill Clinton began. In 2004, in St. Louis, a Lewis and Clark Exhibition opened at the Missouri History Museum. The exhibit featured 500 rare and priceless objects used by the Corps of Discovery.
