Wednesday, the Federal Reserve’s Open Market Committee will announce the results of its January meeting and any interest rate decision. Thursday, the Department of Labor will issue its initial jobless claims report, and Freddie Mac will update average mortgage rates for the week.
MARKET MIRROR
Friday, the Dow fell 140.82 points (0.32%) to close at 44,424.25, the Nasdaq fell 99.38 points (0.50%) to close at 19,954.30 and the S&P 500 fell 17.47 points (0.29%) to close at 6,101.24. The Russell 2000 fell 6.86 points (0.30%) to close at 2,307.74, and the FT Wilshire 5000 Index fell 159.27 points (0.26%) to close at 61,333.85.

The 10-year Treasury note increased 23/32, bringing the yield to 4.634%. The 30-year Treasury bond increased 4/32, bringing the yield to 4.849%.

In the week ending January 24, the Dow rose 2.15%, the Nasdaq rose 1.65% and the S&P 500 rose 1.74%. The Russell 2000 rose 1.40%, and the FT Wilshire 5000 Index finished 1.73% higher.
