Even Healthy Couples Will Face Extreme Health Care Costs in Retirement
A healthy 65-year-old couple retiring this year will spend $369,000 in today’s dollars on health care over their lifetime, according to Milliman. In future dollars, that increases to $551,000. By age 85, their health care expenses are 250% higher than at age 65. These projections are based on several assumptions, not least of which is that the health statuses of the couple remain steady throughout their entire life spans.Read more >

Tuesday, the Dow gained 69.25 points (0.26%) to finish at 26,786.68, the NASDAQ increased 17.93 points (0.22%) to 8,109.09, and the S&P 500 was up 8.68 points (0.29%) at 2,973.01. The Russell 2000 closed 9.13 points (0.58%) lower at 1,560.54, and the Wilshire 5000 closed 66.38 points (0.22%) higher at 30,551.84.


The price of the 10-year Treasury note was up 5/32, decreasing its yield to 1.976%. The price of the 30-year Treasury bond increased 32/32, bringing its yield down to 2.503%.

It was later renamed “Better Homes and Gardens.” In 1930, Congress created the U.S. Veterans Administration. In 1940, Bud Abbott and Lou Costello debuted on NBC radio. In 1950, U.S. carrier-based planes attacked airfields in the Pyongyang-Chinnampo area of North Korea in the first air-strike of the Korean War. In 1958, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the Rivers and Harbors Flood Control Bill, which allocated funds to improve flood-control and water-storage systems across the country.
