ICI Data Reveals No Increase in DC Plan Withdrawals and Loans
Whereas the percent of plan participants with outstanding loans and hardship withdrawals rose for three straight years—2008 through 2011—that number seems to have stabilized since, according to a study by ICI. Wednesday, the Dow gained 37.46 points (0.18%) to finish at 21,173.69, the NASDAQ closed 22.32 points (0.36%) higher at 6,297.38, and the S&P 500 was up 3.81 points (0.16%) at 2,433.14. The Russell 2000 increased 1.78 (0.13%) to 1,396.67, and the Wilshire 5000 gained 22.73 points (0.09%) to finish at 25,273.16.

The price of the 10-year Treasury note was down 3/32, increasing its yield to 2.186%. The price of the 30-year Treasury bond decreased 4/32, bringing its yield up to 2.843%.

The Callan DC Index Rose 4.67% in Q1 ’17
The Callan DC Index, which represents 90 large defined contribution plans with $150 billion in assets, rose 4.67% in the first quarter—its largest return since the end of 2013. While, plan balances for the quarter rose 4.74%, the majority of that increase, 4.67%, reflects market performance; only 0.07% is due to contributions. Read more >
