Thursday, the Department of Labor will issue its initial jobless claims report, and Freddie Mac will update average mortgage rates for the week.

Friday, the Dow rose 587.70 points (1.44%) to close at 41,401.27, the Nasdaq rose 384.22 points (2.22%) to close at 18,196.22 and the S&P 500 rose 101.28 points (1.83%) to close at 5,622.80. The Russell 2000 rose 41.96 points (2.10%) to close at 2,075.48, and the FT Wilshire 5000 Index rose 1210.32 points (2.20%) to close at 56,252.06.

The 10-year Treasury note decreased 4/32, bringing the yield to 4.317%. The 30-year Treasury bond decreased 6/32, bringing the yield to 4.622%.

In the week ending March 14, the Dow fell 3.27%, the Nasdaq fell 2.80% and the S&P 500 fell 2.55%. The Russell 2000 fell 1.92%, and the FT Wilshire 5000 Index finished 2.20% lower.
