Wednesday the Dow was down 244.95 points (0.58%) to close at 42,098.70, the Nasdaq fell 98.23 points (0.51%) to close at 19,100.94 and the S&P 500 fell 32.99 points (0.56%) to close at 5,888.55. The Russell 2000 fell 22.60 points (1.08%) to close at 2,067.80, and the FT Wilshire 5000 Index fell 351.36 points (0.59%) to close at 58,789.82.
The 10-year Treasury note fell 3/32, bringing the yield to 4.483%. The 30-year Treasury bond fell 3/32, bringing the yield to 4.980%.

ON THIS DATE: In 1848, Wisconsin became the 30th state of the union. In 1905, the Russian navy was defeated in the Battle of Tsushima during the Russo-Japanese War. In 1917, President John F. In 1999, “Discovery” became the first space shuttle to dock with the International Space Station. In 2017, Panamanian military leader Manuel Noriega—who ruled Panama until ousted by U.S. forced and who later served prison sentences in the U.S. and Panama—died at age 83 in Panama City.
