Existing-home sales faded in October for the ninth month in a row to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.43 million, the National Association of Realtors reported. Sales fell 5.9% from September and 28.4% from one year ago. The median existing-home sales price rose to $379,100, an increase of 6.6% from the previous year. The inventory of unsold existing homes slipped for the third consecutive month to 1.22 million at the end of October, or the equivalent of 3.3 months’ supply at the current monthly sales pace.

Wednesday, the Labor Department will issue its initial jobless claims report and the Census Bureau will report new orders for manufactured durable goods for October and new home sales October.
MARKET MIRROR
Friday, the Dow gained 199.37 points (0.59%) to close at 33,745.69, the Nasdaq increased 1.11 points (0.01%) to close at 11,146.06 and the S&P 500 gained 18.78 points (0.48%) to finish trading at 3,965.34. The Russell 2000 gained 10.61 points (0.58%) to close at 1,849.73 and the Wilshire 5000 gained 176.10 points (0.45%) to close at 39,439.89.

The price of the 10-year Treasury note decreased 5/32, bringing the yield up to 3.827%. The price of the 30-year Treasury bond decreased 30/32, bringing the yield up to 3.925%

For the week ending November 18, the Dow decreased 0.01%, the Nasdaq lost 1.57% and the S&P 500 decreased 0.69%. The Russell 2000 decreased 1.75% and the Wilshire 5000 finished 0.99% lower.
