Judge Grants Motion to Dismiss Ricoh Complaint

The two counts brought by plaintiffs were bounced by the Chief Judge for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, but the motion to dismiss was granted with leave to amend.

Monday, the Dow decreased 497.57 points (1.45%) to close at 33,849.46, the Nasdaq decreased 176.86 points (1.58%) to end trading at 11,049.50 and the S&P 500 lost 62.18 points (1.54%) to close at 3,963.94. The Russell 2000 lost 38.23 points (2.05%) to close at 1,830.96 and the Wilshire 5000 decreased 631.27 points (1.58%) to close at 39,387.61.
The price of the 10-year Treasury note was unchanged and the yield decreased to 3.685%. The price of the 30-year Treasury bond increased 3/32, bringing the yield down to 3.726%

ON THIS DATE: In 1832, Louisa May Alcott, the author of children’s books including “Little Women,” was born. In 1890, Navy defeated Army 24-0 at West Point, N.Y. in the first Army-Navy football game. In 1929, the first airplane flight over the South Pole was made by Navy Lt. Comdr. Richard E. Byrd. In 1947, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution that was never implemented, calling for the partition of Palestine into two separate states—an Arab and a Jewish one—that would retain an economic union. In 1986, Actor Cary Grant died at the age of 82. In 1990, the U.N. Security Council voted to authorize military action if Iraq did not withdraw its troops from Kuwait and release all foreign hostages by January 15, 1991.
