Privately-owned housing starts in August were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,180,000, the Census Bureau reported. This is 0.8% below the revised July estimate of 1,190,000, but is 1.4% above the August 2016 rate of 1,164,000. Single-family housing starts in August were at a rate of 851,000; this is 1.6% above the revised July figure of 838,000. The August rate for units in buildings with five units or more was 323,000. |

The Russell 2000 was virtually unchanged at 1,440.40, and the Wilshire 5000 gained 60.95 points (0.23%) to finish at 26,023.23. The price of the 10-year Treasury note was down 3/32, increasing its yield to 2.242%. The price of the 30-year Treasury bond decreased 11/32, bringing its yield up to 2.816%. |

A participant in the Cornerstone Pediatric Profit Sharing Plan has filed suit against Voya Financial and its subsidiary Voya Retirement Insurance and Annuity Company for violating the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) by the way it charged fees.
