Dr. Punam A. Keller is a behavior change expert who works with companies, foundations, and government agencies that are interested in changing employees’ health and saving behaviors. Her work has included developing retirement saving initiatives by which state employers, recordkeepers and plan sponsors can better engage their plan participants and spur them to save. Drawing from behavioral economics, she helped 2017 PLANSPONSOR Plan Sponsor of the Year finalist Ohio Deferred Compensation, revamp its EZ-enrollment and SMarT auto-deferral-increase-enrollment forms. The result: Forms are shorter and easier to understand—and more participants are taking actions.
DC and DB Plan Pre-Conference Workshops

New to the business and want to learn some of the basics of defined contribution (DC) or defined benefit (DB) plan regulations and administrative responsibilities? Or not new to the business but want a refresher? The morning before the conference starts, PLANSPONSOR is hosting two pre-conference workshops: DC Plan Boot Camp and Best Practices in DB Plan Administration to offer offer additional educational opportunities for those plan sponsors who are looking to enhance their conference experience. The DC Plan Boot Camp will review the fundamental rules of retirement plans, specifically the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, as well as fiduciary responsibilities. It will also review some of the recent fee disclosure regulations and discuss best practices for running a DC plan and maintaining its investment menu. For those who want to focus on their DB plans, the Best Practices in DB Plan Administration workshop will address the current regulatory environment—including topics such as funding requirements and PBGC issues—as well as discussing trends in both investing and de-risking.
