Vanguard Names Head of Government Relations

April 12, 2013 (PLANSPONSOR.com) – Jerry Golden has been named head of government relations for Vanguard.

Golden will be based in Washington, D.C., and will report to Ann L. Combs. He will represent Vanguard on a broad range of regulatory and legislative issues, including tax, retirement and financial services matters.

Jamey Delaplane, who currently heads Vanguard’s Washington office, will be relocating to the company’s Malvern headquarters to lead the ERISA and Fiduciary Services practice group in Vanguard’s Legal Department, reporting to general counsel and managing eirector Heidi Stam.

Golden most recently served as associate vice president for government relations at Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, where he headed Nationwide Financial’s government relations efforts. His previous experience includes the American Council of Life Insurers and the United States Chamber of Commerce.

Golden received a B.A. degree from the University of Richmond in 1999 and a M.A. degree from George Mason University in 2006.
