A Little Friday File Fun (07/25)

July 25, 2008 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - They say that a picture is worth a thousand words....

– – – Most of us have done it at one time or another – – – whether we would admit it or not – – – now you can “herd” cats online – – – Try it at http://www.yukyuk.com/games_downloads/cat_herder/cat_herder.shtml

– – – Somewhere in Cambodia, biologist Zeb Hogan, 34, managed to catch a 6-foot wide stingray – – – you can see it at http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/07/20/article-1036789-0202A38400000578-981_468x534.jpg

Boston Red Sox fans finally got to see their dreams come true (twice) - and the Chicago White Sox finally overcame their World Series jinx going back to the infamous Black Sox scandal of 1919.

But the Chicago Cubs - well, they're still waiting - and some folks think that 2003 could have been their year, but for the intervention of Steve Bartman.   Now Sportsbuy.com and the National Sports Collectors Convention are offering Steve Bartman a whopping $25,000.  MORE at http://www.planadviser.com/education/article.php/2596

And here's a thousand more...

- - - In Omaha, Nebraska , Juan Briceno, 33, a repeat DUI offender, was sitting in the police station here waiting to be tested to see if another (fourth) DUI charge would be appropriate (he failed a field sobriety test) - - - grabbed a bottle of Liquid Paper from a desk - - - and, perhaps hoping to mask the results of the alcohol test, drank it - - - now, the bottle has a label that warns that correctional fluid is flammable - - - and that it can be harmful or fatal if inhaled - - - - fortunately for Juan, he seems to have suffered no ill effects from his decision to take another drink - - - unfortunately for Juan, it didn't seem to help mask the effects of alcohol - - - or maybe when your blood alcohol level is .28 (3.5 times the legal limit)) - - - you simply need more than a small bottle of Liquid Paper - - - however, you can watch Juan sneak his drink at http://content.omaha.com/media/maps/video/072208whiteout/

In 1945, right around midnight, a Japanese submarine torpedoed the USS Indianapolis. The ship had just delivered key components of the Hiroshima atomic bomb to the Pacific island of Tinian. Of the 1,196 on board, 883 men were killed in the attack - about 400 in the attack itself, and the rest from drowning - or the sharks in the intervening 84 hours before they were rescued.

It was a story retold in chilling detail in the 1975 blockbuster "Jaws."
