DC Plan Benchmarking Survey
Sponsors can use the survey to compare their plan design with peers’, for self-assessment—and self-improvement.
Methodology
The 2023 PLANSPONSOR Defined Contribution Survey, of which the DC Plan Benchmarking Survey is part, was fielded, using the Qualtrics survey platform, from August through November 2023. In collaboration with recordkeepers of DC plans, we invited plan sponsors to report on facts about their plan. The data represent results from more than 2,100 plan sponsors, with over 1,500 reporting asset range data.
Data are reported in aggregate, based on specified asset ranges for six plan types and 48 industries. We report on plan types and design features, loans and withdrawals, participation and eligibility, etc. Within the results, we look at the top and bottom industries of the dataset, by average deferral rate, average account balance and immediate vesting.
