United Methodist Church Launches New Benefits Access Portal

January 24, 2012 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The General Board of Pension and Health Benefits of The United Methodist Church has launched a new  Benefits Access Portal to provide plan participants with more relevant information to help them proactively manage their retirement.

The new portal was developed using Birmingham, Alabama-based PlanServe Data Systems, Relevant Pension Portal. “Benefits Access” features a retirement benefit projection process using animation and HTML5 functionality to allow participants to perform “what if” scenarios using combined data from defined contribution and defined benefit retirement accounts.  Educational information is presented based on the participant’s status and plan participation. Easy-to-use transaction wizards are used for updating personal information, managing beneficiaries and financial activity.  The business integration functionality of Relevant Pension Portal allowed the General Board to use existing security systems to deliver tailored screens to participants, advisers, and call center representatives based on user roles.

PlanServe’s Relevant Pension Portal platform supports business integration processes; a content management system (CMS) that allows users to manage page content and publish updates on demand; data loading (ETL) processes for automating the movement of data and files between systems;  and universal e-mail and alert generator.

To meet the growing demand for e-delivery of information, the platform includes the integrated Relevant FileXchange, which provides centralized control over B2B data exchange with clients.  Participants, sponsors or advisers can upload or publish print or data files.  Automated e-mail notification or alerts provide links to archived statements or confirmations for easy management of e-delivery information.
