Plan Start-Up Fees Waived by ShareBuilder 401k

Plans set up in December can also include an initial 401(k) contribution from the business owner.

From today until December 22, ShareBuilder 401k is waiving set-up fees on all its 401(k) plans.

The firm says these fees normally run up to $150 for a self-employed business owner opening a solo 401(k) and between $495 and $995 for businesses with multiple employees.

“After a challenging 2020, a 401(k) can be a welcome and meaningful holiday gift that helps employees start the new year right, with a renewed focus on building savings,” says Stuart Robertson, president and CEO of ShareBuilder 401k.

Robertson points out that plans set up in December can also include an initial 401(k) contribution from the business owner, be it a match or profit share contribution, “enabling them to say ‘happy holidays’” in 2020. These employer contributions are tax deductible, too, he says.
