Another Boeing Laptop Stolen

According to news reports, the laptop also contained the individuals’ home addresses, phone numbers and birth dates, and some of the files listed salary information. The company said the computer did not contain any proprietary, customer or supplier data.

Employees at risk received email notification of the theft Wednesday, and retirees whose information was on the laptop will receive notification by mail, the news reports said. The company will provide credit monitoring for three years to affected individuals.

In a memo, Boeing chairman, president and CEO Jim McNerney said the employee to whom the laptop belonged is being dismissed and urged employees to follow company procedures for handling employee information.

The Chicago Tribune reports this was the third such incident for Boeing in a year. Last November, the company revealed that a computer containing files of personal information on 161,000 current and former employees was stolen (See Boeing Employee Data Stolen ).
