ICI: ETF Assets Expand To $121.57 Billion In June

July 29, 2003 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Assets in exchange-traded funds (ETF) rose to $121.57 billion in June from $118.44 billion the previous month.

ETFs saw total domestic equity index assets rise to $109.59 billion in June from $108.28 billion in May. Likewise, gains were seen in broad-based domestic ETFs, increasing to $95.04 billion from $94.27 billion, according to data supplied by the Investment Company Institute (ICI).

Keeping with the trend of expanding indices, all other fund types recorded an increase in total assets in June:

  • Domestic sector/industry – $14.54 billion, from $14 billion
  • Global/International – $8.12 billion, from $6.61 billion
  • Bond – $3.87 billion, from $3.55 billion

Additionally, the value of ETF shares issued in June exceeded that of shares redeemed by $3.45 billion.   The total number of ETFs remained steady at 114.
