The Large Hadron Collider, designed to provide scientists with new data on matter and anti-matter, was switched on in Switzerland on Wednesday. There was a big brewhaha beforehand that the collider could cause the world to be swallowed up by a black hole, especially when it starts to operate at full force in the spring.
