Aetna Releases Small Co. HSA

February 17, 2005 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Aetna on Thursday unveiled a health saving account (HSA) product for small employers and individuals.

In a news release, Aetna said the new offering will include both a high deductible health plan and an HSA as of May 1, 2005 for companies with 50 or fewer workers and for individuals. Consumers will be able to access HSA funds via checkbook or a debit card, the news release said.

Aetna said it has offered a high deductible health plan/HSA product for larger employers since June 2004.

Aetna will continue to be the custodian for its HSA accounts, meaning that customers and members can work directly with Aetna for both their health plan and their HSA.
