AMEX Specialist to Set up at NYSE and PHLX

September 14, 2001 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The American Stock Exchange (AMEX) has made alternate trading arrangements for equities and exchange traded funds (ETFs).

AMEX specialists in temporary specialist posts made available by the NYSE will trade those securities on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

Although the main building, trading floor and trading systems of the AMEX remain functional following the attack on New York?s financial district, its proximity to the disaster area, and subsequent access and safety issues, require a move to new trading locations.

AMEX specialists will be allowed into the NYSE with proper identification, and will conduct trading in the securities on American Stock Exchange’s trading system and under American Stock Exchange rules, utilizing NYSE provided hardware.

AMEX registered options traders and specialists will be allowed to trade options on the floor of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) under PHLX’s rules beginning Monday.
