ASPPA Names Director of Government Affairs

April 4, 2013 (PLANSPONSOR.com) – Ronald J. Triche will join the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA) as director of Government Affairs and assistant general counsel.

As director of Government Affairs, Triche will manage the ASPPA Government Affairs Committee and develop regulatory comments through a committee process, draft summaries of agency guidance and present ASPPA’s position to agencies such as the Department of Labor (DOL), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and on Capitol Hill. He will also serve as in-house assistant general counsel to ASPPA.

Prior to ASPPA, Triche was at Trucker Huss, where he served as a retirement plan benefits attorney for 12 years, focusing on all legal aspects of qualified retirement plans, 401(k) and 403(b) plans, and multiemployer and Taft-Hartley plans. Triche helped clients with administrative issues; various plan qualification matters; Qualified Domestic Relations Order reviews; Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 issues; and preparation of plan documents, Summary Plan Descriptions and plan amendments. He also assisted clients in the successful completion of IRS, DOL and PBGC plan audits. In addition, he prepared many applications on behalf of clients under the various IRS and DOL correction programs. Prior to Trucker Huss, Triche practiced in New Orleans.
