The campaign, first run last year, was designed at the direction of CalPERS’ Board of Administration to foster the awareness of public employees towards their eventual retirement needs.
The campaign aims to encourage public employees to learn about the monthly pension provided through their employer, and examine options to supplement that amount if necessary.
The theme of the campaign is “Your Future. Your Choice” and features five fictitious state employees in various stages in retirement planning. Each character’s unique lifestyle, goals and choices are intended to help educate employees about retirement planning at stage in life.
As part of the awareness campaign, CalPERS has developed a retirement planning kit that contains tools to increase awareness and help with planning.
In addition, CalPERS will hold a lunchtime event bringing together representatives of its retirement, health, supplemental savings, Member Home Loan and other programs.
