Ceridian Expands Absence Management Tools

June 20, 2005 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Ceridian has unveiled a group of new products to help companies better manage employee absences.

The new absence management product group provides an automated self-tracking solution and a full service outsourcing solution to track and manage all types of absences, according to the firm.   Ceridian will also provide ongoing consulting services to help companies integrate these new products into their human resource functions.

Ceridian has adopted LeaveLink, a software product from Absentys, a consulting and technology company specializing in Integrated Absence Management.   LeaveLink is a key feature of Ceridian’s new product group, providing plan sponsors with a single system to track and administer family medical leave, state and employer authorized leaves, and attendance policies and vacation plans.

The tool is web-based and can interact with short-term disability (STD) and workers’ compensation administrators to determine which absences should be classified as such.   That combination of data in a single place also means that companies can more easily create reports that have previously been difficult or impossible, according to the firm.

Ceridian says the benefits of its new absence management products include:

  • savings by helping to eliminate overutilization of benefits,
  • reduced abuse of medical leave and casual absence policies, and
  • assistance with return to work processes.

According to Jim Corcoran, president of Ceridian Benefits Services, “Businesses that implement this will save administrative time and reduce the errors that can occur with manual entries of this information in addition to better managing employee absences and health care costs.”
