China Pension Fund to Seek Private Equity Investments

July 28, 2010 ( - The chairman of China's national pension fund said the fund plans to seek investments in private equity outside China and to hire fund managers to execute the investments.

Dow Jones reports Dai Xianglong did not give a timeframe for the actions. He also told a conference in Hong Kong that the pension fund aims to raise the weighting of stocks in its investment portfolio to over 50% in five years from 30% now.  

Dai said he hopes the fund’s overall return rate would remain above the nation’s inflation rate in the near future, according to the news report.
