Version 9.0 of COBRA’s software is designed for employers with more than 20 employees who self-administer the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA). The version takes into account updates mandated by the Department of Labor’s final regulations applying to notice obligations arising from plan years beginning on or after November 26 of this year, according to the company.
The company changed the “General Notice” and “Qualifying Event Notice” parts of the program, according to a press release. The company also added two new notices – “Unavailability of COBRA Notice” and “Early Termination of Coverage Notice” – to the program.
For employers based in California, the company implemented a tracking system and automatic notification feature for those qualified for Cal-COBRA.
