Cost Modeling Product Helps in Health Coverage Decisions

September 9, 2003 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Employees who want a helping hand in figuring out their health insurance needs may get the aid they are looking for from a new Towers Perrin product, the eValuator.

According to a Towers Perrin news release, eValuator is an interactive Web-based modeling tool designed to help workers choose the right medical plan by providing an easy-to-understand financial analysis based on their individual and family health needs and health care consumption patterns.

The product also allows employees to calculate their yearly out-of-pocket expenses and how much they can save by using their health care flexible spending account (FSA). It also shows how much their company plan pays.

“Part of the problem is that employees have been insulated from the true cost of health care,” said Jim Foreman, managing director of Health and Welfare for Towers Perrin in a statement. “Most employees have no idea what they would have to pay for an annual checkup, an MRI or a trip to the emergency room if they didn’t have health insurance.”
