Dow Jones Unveils Private Equity Database

A Dow Jones news release said the new offering helps private equity firms, hedge funds, investment banks, and service providers beef up their market intelligence on key investment sectors, deal partners, and potential deals. The company said the database will initially include three years of deal data, covering 7,700 private equity-backed companies and 1,800 investment firms managing more than $1.56 trillion in assets.

According to the announcement, the offering allows users to perform advanced searches across a range of content and data.  Search queries can be tailored to fit such criteria as types of deals, deal size, time period, company/firms involved, and other specifics. Searches can be saved, downloaded, and shared using the database’s advanced reporting tools. 

The product features:

• details on private equity firms and portfolio companies, including investment histories, product overviews, key executives;
• up-to-date contact details for senior personnel at portfolio companies and private equity firms;
• information about which banks, accounting firms, law firms, and other service providers have been involved in similar deals; and
• analytic tools comparing target companies to similar deals already done in a particular sector.
