Employers Say Offering Dental Benefits Improves Morale
A news report on Simplyhealth’s annual dental survey says 66% of companies believe that dental benefits reduce sickness absence. Forty-seven percent of employer respondents have found that offering dental benefits has increased employee engagement.
According to the report in Employee Benefits, 49% of employers say they offer dental benefits because they are concerned for the oral health of employees, and 71% indicate they are worried that employees may not be able to afford the cost of looking after their dental health. Nearly three-quarters of respondents (74%) say they believe it is the responsibility of the company to look after the oral health of its workforce.
Forty-one percent of employers that offer dental benefits say they have noticed a reduction in time off due to dental problems, and 37% say dental benefits make it easier for the company to control time off for dental appointments (48%).
The survey polled 250 HR managers and more than 1,000 working adults in the UK.
