Financial Ed Group Unveils State Financial Literacy Web Site

May 16, 2008 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - A Washington, D.C. business coalition with the goal of improving the levels of financial education of American students has released a new Web tool with information about state requirements for financial education.

The Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy said the users   can click on a state in a U.S. map at the site to see a summary of financial literacy requirements for that state.

The Web tool also includes additional resources such as legislative and regulatory language, according to a news release. For example, the site gives information about Texas’   HB 492 that became effective in 2005 defining the Lone Star State’s financial education mandates.

The coalition’s goal is to make sure basic personal financial management skills are attained during K-12 grade levels. The wheels of education do not need to be reinvented, they simply require balance,” the coalition declared on its Web site.
