Financial Planning Offered to CIGNA Participants

April 30, 2002 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Participants in retirement plans from CIGNA Retirement & Investment Services may soon enjoy personalized financial counseling services.

According to a CIGNA press release, the one-on-one counseling from The Ayco Company is available as a company or plan-paid option. Ayco is a financial counseling firm.

CIGNA said participants can reach an Ayco planner through a toll-free number. The planners will have access to participant benefit summaries so they can more efficiently offer specific recommendations on investment choices and asset allocation.

The CIGNA announcement said Ayco will also offer participants suggestions about financial issues outside the retirement plan including:

  • investing outside the plan,
  • education funding,
  • insurance planning,
  • home ownership,
  • estate planning, and
  • the financial impact of key life events

After participants talk to the Ayco planner, the planner can transfer callers back to CIGNA in case the workers want to implement the investment suggestions.

CIGNA said there is no limit to the number of times participants can use the service. Employees can use the same planner each time they contact Ayco, the announcement said.
