Firms Partner to Offer PPACA Compliance Solution

April 10, 2012 (PLANSPONSOR.com) – Two software firms have teamed up to offer documents to help employers comply with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).

HighRoads, a SaaS-enabled (software as a service) employer health care compliance and benefits management provider, partnered with bswift, a provider of software and services for employee benefits administration in automating the creation of and change management for required Summary of Benefits & Coverage (SBC) and Summary Plan Description (SPD) documents.  

With this new partnership, bswift will now offer HighRoads’ QuickSPD, ACA Compliance Portal and full SBC and SPD management solutions. HighRoads’ QuickSPD solution is an online service that develops ERISA-compliant SPDs for small and mid-size businesses.  

SBCs are newly mandated documents required by health care reform to provide consumers with a specific and concise summary of their health care plan benefits (see “No Delay for Implementation of Summary of Benefits and Coverage”). SPDs are also federally-required summaries of retirement plan benefits that must be distributed to employees, retirees and beneficiaries.
