FTSE & ISS Release Corporate Governance Indices

December 14, 2004 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - FTSE Group and Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) have released the first phase of their joint FTSE ISS Corporate Governance Index Series.

FTSE and ISS have teamed up to provide investors with multiple indices focused on corporate governance. The indices, six of which went live Tuesday, are meant to help investors assess and manage the impact that corporate governance has on investments, according to a press release. The six indices are:

  • FTSE ISS Developed CGI (large and mid cap stocks)
  • FTSE ISS Europe CGI (large and mid cap stocks)
  • FTSE ISS Euro CGI (large and mid cap stocks)
  • FTSE ISS Japan CGI (large and mid cap stocks)
  • FTSE ISS US CGI (large and mid cap stocks)
  • FTSE ISS UK CGI (large, mid and small cap stocks)

All indices track equities with a corporate governance overlay, including a universe of 2,300 companies across 24 developed markets. With the board market base, FTSE and ISS hope to create a global baseline standard for measuring corporate governance across regions of the world, according to the news release.
