Hartford Unveils Career Stage Focused Workshops

January 23, 2003 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc has launched a workshop series for the retirement planning needs of individuals at various stages of their career cycle.

Hartford’s Plan for Life Series provides a generic overview of the retirement planning needs of individuals at the four stages of the career cycle.   Each stage of the cycle focuses on topics that are of likely concern to the intended audience and is presented by a Hartford representative at the request of the plan sponsor.

The four stages of the career cycle, early career, mid-career, pre-retirement and retirement, look at issues such as:

  • Early career – participants learn the fundamental concepts of retirement planning, including investment horizons, diversification, dollar cost averaging and asset allocation.
  • Mid-career – participants learn the benefits of increasing deferral amounts, risk assessment tools, how to navigate market volatility and the cost of procrastination.
  • Pre-retirement – participants focus on determining if they have adequate savings and potential strategies for making up for lost time, such as increasing contributions.
  • Retirement– participants look at concerns of retirees, such as strategies to protect retirement assets against inflation, health care options and options for withdrawing retirement income.
